The scores are provided by judges from different camera clubs or from the art or professional photo community. There may be times when three club members form a judging panel.

Images are scored from 8 to 15 points. All images are judged based on Composition, Technique, and Impact.

Images that have been judged to be at a level that can be accepted into exhibitions and are eligible to advance to the club's end-of-year competition receive scores of 12, 13, 14, and 15, with 15 being an image of highest achievement.
